Inuyasha and Kagome encounter Shippo, a mischievous orphaned fox yōkai who wants a Shikon Jewel shard to avenge his father. His father was recently killed by Hiten and Manten of the Thunder Brothers. While trying to defend Shippo, Kagome is abducted by Manten and taken to the mountains. Inuyasha and Shippo then travel to the mountains to find Kagome held hostage. The group reunites as they face the threat posed by the Thunder Brothers, who are responsible for Shippo's loss and Kagome's capture. The narrative focuses on their journey to rescue Kagome and confront the villains responsible for the recent violence.
