Ep. 2: Aoi helps a Tengu elder and negotiates a debt settlement at the inn.
A conflict among guests leads Odanna to treat Aoi harshly, prompting Aoi to care for Matsuba, an elderly drunk Tengu. Matsuba reveals he owes a debt of gratitude to Aoi’s grandfather, Shiro, for saving him from drowning, though he never delivered the promised Tengu fan. Odanna identifies Matsuba as the missing Tengu Elder who fell from an airship. Matsuba presents the fan to Aoi and learns she is collateral for Shiro’s debt. He offers to clear the debt and invites Aoi to live on Mt. Shumon with his family, but she refuses, intending to pay the debt herself. Matsuba warns Odanna against her harsh treatment and promises to return if Aoi opens an eatery. After Aoi meets Kasuga, a tanuki who thanks her for resolving a dispute, Odanna grants permission for the new business.
