Aug 30, 2003Flay, previously held captive by Rau, is placed in a lifepod containing the Neutron Jammer Canceller data. She successfully transmits this information to the Dominion and the Archangel. Upon hearing the transmission, Kira rushes to rescue Flay but leaves his mobile suit, the Freedom, unguarded, resulting in it being shot in the head. Athrun intervenes to save the Freedom and returns it to the Archangel. The Dominion secures Flay, allowing Muruta Azreal to achieve his original objective. Later, at the Eternal, Kira falls unconscious. Upon waking, he is comforted by his friends and Lacus, who help him release his accumulated mental stress.

Sep 6, 2003Utilizing Neutron Jammer Cancellers, Earth Alliance forces initiate a comprehensive assault on the PLANTs. The Boaz military asteroid is obliterated by nuclear strikes, marking the beginning of the offensive against the PLANTs. The Freedom and Justice mobile suits arrive at the combat zone just in time to neutralize all incoming nuclear warheads. In response to this intervention, Patrick Zala issues the command to deploy the GENESIS weapon system.

During this pause in the conflict, the crews aboard the Archangel, Kusanagi, and Eternal take time to pray for one another's safety ahead of the impending battle.
49EP 49Earth Alliance forces fail as Mu sacrifices himself to save the Archangel from Muruta's final attack.
Sep 20, 2003GENESIS cripples Earth Alliance reinforcements and destroys the Ptolemaeus lunar base. The Three Ships Alliance intercepts a second nuclear wave targeting the PLANTs. Mu battles Rau in the ZGMF-X13A Providence while Kira and Athrun engage the Forbidden, Raider, and Calamity. Earth Forces' final assault fails. On the Dominion, Muruta orders fire on the Archangel after it stops to rescue a wounded Mu. Flay tries to warn the ship, leading Muruta to assault her. Natarle intervenes, struggling for the weapon. She orders evacuation, gets shot, and locks the bridge. Muruta fires, but Mu dies shielding the Archangel. The Archangel retaliates, destroying the Dominion and killing Muruta and Natarle.

Sep 27, 2003The Archangel, the Eternal, and the Kusanagi intervene to stop both factions from deploying weapons of mass destruction. Rau destroys Flay's escape shuttle, resulting in the deaths of all passengers. Flay's spirit subsequently appears to a grieving Kira to offer apologies and gratitude. Meanwhile, Patrick Zala is executed by an officer after choosing to sacrifice his own troops for victory. Kira destroys the Providence using the Freedom, while Athrun remotely detonates the Justice to eliminate GENESIS. With both the PLANTs and Earth Alliance forces in chaos, a moderate renegade faction within the PLANTs calls for a ceasefire, effectively bringing the war to a close.
