Kenmochi suspects the killer avenges Chikamiya, implicating Yumi and Sakonji in Yurama's death via a puppet trick, though Sakonji denies proof. That night, a scream leads the group to find Yumi dead, hanging from a tree outside her locked room. Investigating the room below, Hajime asserts he has identified the Puppet Master. He concludes that Chikamiya's former students, including Yamagami, Yumi, Yurama, and Sakonji, murdered her to steal her magic notebook.
