Ep. 36: Hajime reveals the jade counterweight method implicating Takato, who confesses to the murders.
36

Hajime gathers everyone to explain that the killer used a large jade piece in Yumi's room as a counterweight to descend through the window, indicating the culprit is lighter than Yumi and implicating Yoichi Takato. Hajime further states that Takato sent Yamagami's body to the hotel as baggage addressed to himself as Mario Totsune. Confronted with this evidence, Totsune confesses to the scheme and reveals he is the only son of Reiko Chikamiya. Raised by his father and seeing Chikamiya only twice, he became fascinated by magic and discovered she was his mother after his father’s death by reading her book. After witnessing the Living Puppet act, he realized the team possessed copies of Chikamiya's notes and, upon becoming manager, overheard them discuss their involvement in her death. Sakonji confirms the story and gives Takato his copy of the notebook. Takato is taken away by the police, knowing a trap is set. When Sakonji performs a new death-defying act, he is killed because Chikamiya wrote an intentional flaw into her notebook. With Sakonji's death, Takato escapes from prison.
