Hajime follows the Puppet Clown's instructions across various locations, sustaining injuries during the pursuit. After falling from a suspension bridge and losing the ransom money, he is rescued by Kenmochi. The Puppet Clown then murders Manami Yasuoga and shoots Reika Hayami, informing Hajime that the deal is void and the bodies have been disposed of. Hajime deduces the location of the remains to be Kawaguchi Lake in Yamanashi, prompting a police search. En route to Yamanashi, Hajime discovers Reika severely beaten on the roadside, marking a critical development in the ongoing investigation into the kidnapping and murder case.
