Reika Hayami survives a severe beating and recounts her abduction by the mysophobic Puppet Clown, alongside the murder of Yasuoga. Suspecting foul play within Youko Kafuraki's company, Hajime tasks Itsuki with investigating staff relationships. Police discover Yasuoga’s body, riddled with five gunshot wounds, and the Clown’s hideout. Hajime doubts the kidnapping was ransom-driven, while Itsuki reveals Yasuoga was Kafuraki’s nephew and a womanizer linked to Reiko Mitamura. Although all suspects possess alibis for the time of the shooting, Hajime remains convinced he has identified the killer within the company.
