Hajime details how the killer manipulated Black Butterflies to hide Fumi’s body and create an alibi, then accuses Masayuki Onodera of being the Undying Butterfly killer. He posits that the murders avenge Minoru Suga’s suicide, suspecting Onodera is Suga’s son with Midori. Onodera confesses, blaming Midori for betraying his father by revealing the luminous butterfly pupae location to Shimon Madarame. Midori denies this, claiming she always loved Suga and that her three daughters were his via artificial insemination, a secret she intended to share with Madarame before his death. Overcome by guilt, Onodera stabs himself. Midori joins him in suicide by fire. Scientist Yamano admits he informed Madarame about Suga’s discovery to fund the lab, causing unintended calamity. Suga Minoru receives credit for the Luminous Butterfly, while Miyama and Ageha marry, and Hajime notes Touno Eiji died in the lake.
