Nervous but punctual, Komi wears a bikini chosen by Tadano after Yamai insists she buy one, as she only owns a school swimsuit. After scraping her knee, she sits alone until Tadano comforts her by pulling her into shallow water to protect her bandage, later panicking when he realizes he held her hand. The group ends the day with a water gun fight. Komi then visits the library with her father, who also struggles with communication. They share shaved ice and discuss her school life through mostly non-verbal means. Komi finds a book but is too shy to borrow it, choosing to read it in place. Her intense stare initially frightens a baby, but she eventually cheers him up. Tadano, also at the library, watches her happily and forgets to return his own book. Later, Komi enjoys a solitary time at a park, where a passing Tadano is awed by her beauty and again forgets to return his book.
