Ep. 2: Kiyo struggles with Zatch's book while a frozen river and bank hostage crisis unfold
Kiyo spends the night failing to translate Zatch's red book, leading to a morning argument where Zatch fails to grasp Kiyo's frustration. On the way to school, they witness a river frozen by Reycom and Hosokawa, who then hijack a vehicle. Suzy encounters these two during a bank hostage situation while attempting to purchase a smoothie. Although Kiyo initially dismisses the danger after seeing it on the news, Zatch insists on intervening to facilitate personal growth. Upon arriving at the bank, Kiyo’s strategies are repeatedly undermined by Zatch. Eventually, Kiyo arranges for Zatch to cast Zaker without endangering hostages, but the spell fails. Hosokawa freezes Zatch using Gikor and demands the book in exchange for his release. Kiyo refuses, causing Zatch to thaw. Kiyo then successfully casts Zaker to stop the robbery, allowing the criminals to escape with threats of revenge. Meanwhile, Zatch’s spellbook glows, unlocking the second spell, Rashield.
