Ep. 4: Akihito and Mirai battle the Hollow Shadow while Akihito faces a dangerous transformation.

Akihito and Mirai escape an illusory labyrinth created by the Hollow Shadow, arriving at a twisted train yard. The Shadow mimics Yui to ensnare Mirai, but Akihito saves her. Mirai destroys the Shadow’s main body with corrosive blood. They return to a mountaintop where Mirai questions her self-image. Akihito responds sincerely, but the weakened Shadow possesses him. He begs Mirai to inject him with blood to expel the entity, which she does. Hiroomi, Ayaka, and Shizuku arrive, locking Akihito in a cage due to his awakening youmu half. Mirai watches as Akihito transforms and goes berserk, destroying the landscape with orange fireballs. Overwhelmed, the trio fails to contain him. Mirai embraces him, calming his rampage. Akihito awakens, distressed by the destruction. Miroku reports to the Society. Later, Mirai and Akihito have dinner, exchanging the same questions and answers. Izumi gives the Hollow Shadow’s stone to an unknown man, hoping it stalls the Society.
