Dashwood orders Maximilien to atone for his sins by drawing the blood of the Four Musketeers. D'Eon informs his companions that Saint-Germain leads the Poets but omits Mary. After being freed, Durand reunites with his comrades and they travel to Medmenham. Maximilien arrives at the abbey with Cagliostro and Lorenza before D'Eon and his group. He confronts Dashwood and is killed despite Lorenza's efforts to save him. The Four Musketeers reach the abbey and are attacked by Sandwich and several Medmenham monks. Lia senses Maximilien's death, sheds tears of blood, and quickly recites Psalms.
