The Four Musketeers acquire the Royal Psalms and evidence clearing them of theft charges. Durand attempts to flee to France alone with these items to spare his friends from combat. He reaches the French Embassy to blackmail Guercy for a ship and safety guarantees. Maximilien arrives, urging Durand to abandon his knightly duties, but Durand refuses. After reuniting with his comrades, Maximilien transforms Durand into a Gargoyle and stops Lia from reversing the curse. With no other choice, D'Eon stabs Durand in the chest. Meanwhile, in France, Louis cedes American territories to Britain for peace, angering Pompadour.
