Louis evades confinement after Broglie intercepts Robin’s shot, leaving Robin furious over the ladies' deaths. Flashbacks reveal Maximilien proposing to Lia in Versailles, rejecting the King’s separation orders to steal the Royal Psalms for her. Lia falsely claims she cannot read the book and rejects his love. In the present, Maximilien urges Robin to avenge his friends, noting Robin’s ability to carry the Psalms signals desired change in France. D’Eon escapes palace guards thanks to Lorenza, visits Anna’s coffin, then infiltrates to force Broglie to the royal chambers. Lia confronts Louis, demanding to know if he caused her past death.
