Three months have passed since Kid last committed a crime, prompting public curiosity about his whereabouts. A scheming store owner fabricates a notice claiming Kid will steal a valuable star tree jewel intended for an orphanage after Christmas. As spectators gather and the manager sells merchandise, the real Kid, despite having a cold and preparing for a Christmas party, decides to intervene. A hired fake thief is arrested, but Kaito appears and uses rockets to crash the tree into the store. This forces the owner to spend his merchandise profits on repairs. Kid confiscates the star and vows eternal rivalry with Detective Nakamori, acknowledging occasional lapses in their conflict.
