A serial killer strangles victims and stabs them through their wallets into their chests in Osaka. Harley Hartwell invites Conan and the Moores for a hometown tour with Truman Salinger as guide and police escort. They meet Kirsten Thomas, who has followed them since the beginning. The body of Castron Odalis, the third victim, is dropped onto their car. Susan Connoly, a terrified bystander, flees the scene in her car. Harley tracks her to her residence using her license. Conan and Harley find her apartment empty. A scream draws them outside, where they and a maintenance worker discover Susan has been strangled and stabbed through her wallet into her chest by the same offender.
