The Junior Detective League, excluding Ai, witnesses a car fall from Mt. Ryushin. Conan determines the crash was intentional but leaves the investigation to the police. Mitsuhiko discovers a code in the wreckage and hides it from Conan to solve it independently. He takes Amy and George to a cabin, believing it holds treasure, but it is actually the culprit's hideout. Conan and the Professor return to find the children missing. Conan deciphers the code quickly and arrives with the police just in time to prevent the murder of the kids. Later, Mitsuhiko complains about Conan's speed while chopping wood with Ayumi and George, admitting he only solved the code because it appeared in a book he was reading.
