Conan determines that Madoka was unfaithful to her boyfriend with a student named Fuji, yet neither party committed the murder. Through Mouri, he reveals that Maki originally intended to kill Madoka for stealing her boyfriend. Maki fabricated an alibi by having Kanoko impersonate her at the station for Mouri, Ran, and Conan. The mysterious observer was Kanoko, who subsequently killed Maki. This act occurred because Maki had helped Kanoko gain illegal university admission by asking her father for special entry.
