Ran, Mouri, and Conan travel to Shirahama following a shopping district lottery win, where they meet college students Maki Shinjou, Tatsuhiko Yura, Madoka Mitsui, Kanako Miyahara, and Kouta Fuji. Although all belong to the same art club, their relationships appear strained. While near a souvenir shop, Conan senses a watcher who escapes on a bus toward Shirahama just as Madoka begins sketching. Madoka subsequently discovers Maki’s body, stabbed in the heart, after hearing a Beethoven ringtone from Maki’s phone. She contacts Fuji, who is at Adventure World with Mouri, Ran, and Conan. Madoka reports to the police that the ringing sound prompted her to check the bushes, leading to the discovery of the murder victim.
