Conan deduces Idetsuki’s death was an internal murder, not an outside attack. He identifies flower scent from a microwave as the key clue. Using Agasa’s voice, Conan accuses Hideo of killing Idetsuki by rigging two VCRs. Hideo programmed a remote to eject tapes from both units. When Idetsuki retrieved her tape, the upper unit ejected its tape, toppling a vase that crushed her skull. Hideo had pre-broken the vase and hid the pieces among dishes. He disposed of the heated flowers in the trash. Idetsuki had driven Mrs. Morita into debt via stock investments, leading to her suicide. After solving the case, Conan rushes home, fearing Ran and Kogoro are kidnapped. He finds them safe but remains unaware that Shuichi Akai is secretly watching the agency.
