The Detective Boys, Kogoro, Ran, and Sonoko visit Kumamoto for a tennis tournament. While exploring the city, Ran and Sonoko find a cell phone. Sonoko receives a love message with a meeting location. Ran and Sonoko go to the site. In the bathroom, Ran overhears three men planning a murder. They kidnap her to silence her. Ran wakes up tied in a locker room. She uses the phone to contact Conan, describing her location. The men return and destroy the phone. The group reports the kidnapping to authorities. Conan investigates the men's motive.
