Ep. 290: The group searches for Mitsuhiko in the forest and encounters Kiichiro Numabchi

Conan’s radar fails, prompting a search for Mitsuhiko in the woods. Conan deduces Mitsuhiko’s lemon scent came from sunscreen containing Cymbopogon, an insect repellent. The team encounters serial killer Kiichiro Numabchi, who flees. Haibara notes Kiichiro was a Black Organization test subject for APTX 4869. Mitsuhiko is found with Kiichiro, who is subsequently arrested. Conan explains Mitsuhiko sought to catch a firefly using bamboo leaves from Onigiri to impress Ayumi and Haibara. The following day at school, Ayumi and Haibara discuss a Tsuchinoko sighting in Gifu. Genta and Mitsuhiko overhear this and plan a trip to Gifu to search for the creature.
