Conan follows Ran to a cafe where she waits for someone else before leaving to buy cake. Himeno Yayoi is found dead in a bathroom stall, with Wakaoji Shiro, Sumeragi Yuichi, Tonoyama Juzo, and Kisaki Eri as initial suspects. Police deduce the killer crawled over the stall, narrowing the list to two people. Conan spots blood on the stall ceiling and realizes the murder method. Kisaki Eri interprets Conan's hints and identifies Juzo as the killer. Juzo confesses to strangling Yayoi to hide his affair, throwing her over the stall, and using a rope-knife mechanism to stage the scene. Conan confirms this by noticing Juzo’s bandages were moved to different fingers, proving they were used for strangulation and the stabbing. Eri is revealed to be Kogoro’s ex-wife and Ran’s mother, whom Conan remembers scolding him.
