Conan notices Yumi’s finger was not on the trigger and she was naked under her robe. Remembering Benkei, he plans to solve the case but lets Kogoro take the lead. Kogoro identifies Detective Nakamichi Kazushi as the killer, explaining that table tennis exercise caused early rigor mortis, which Kazushi tried to hide by changing Yumi’s clothes and wiping her sweat. Kazushi’s statement about knowing Yumi was dead seals his fate. He confesses to an 18-year relationship with Yumi, where he was repeatedly rejected despite multiple proposals. Yumi also terrorized Kazushi and his subsequent fiancée. When Judo members confront him, Kazushi attacks them but is subdued by Kogoro, who leaves him for the police.
