During a stroll, Conan, Ran, and Kogoro hear a gunshot from a nearby house. As they approach to investigate, Kogoro fails to apprehend a masked man who runs past them. Conan discovers the body of Hisaemon Yaguchi, who shows signs of dried blood and a white powdery substance on his shirt. The victim is determined to have died hours prior. Consequently, the investigation focuses on his three sons, who are identified as the primary suspects in the murder case.
