Police continue searching for the murder suspect. Ran convinces Eri to comfort her depressed husband, annoying client Sayuri Tokomae. Enraged by Eri’s affection, Tokomae knocks the lawyer aside and drags Kogoro to a park for jogging, claiming he promised to take her case. Kogoro realizes she benefited from Gamo’s death. A trio of masked robbers attempts to mug Tokomae, but Kogoro defeats them and escorts her to the hospital. There, he overhears a patient discuss Gamo and a medical test from the day Kogoro met him. Kogoro investigates and goes to Gamo’s company to retrieve a voice recording, but the culprit steals it and escapes. Conan informs Kogoro that Gamo filed a complaint with a company that holds a recording of the phone call.
