Richard attends Rita Jordan’s ikebana award ceremony to investigate a threat letter predicting a murder at a luxurious hotel. Rita dismisses the warning as jealousy, but hotel owner Ty Sherwood is soon strangled to death. Conan discovers that chloroform vapors from Sherwood’s flowers rendered him unconscious before the killing. Cyanide is also found in Rika's dressing room. Suspecting Rita due to her indifference, Conan rushes to the stage where Rika is performing and sprays the flowers with liquid nitrogen to neutralize the cyanide. He reveals that the killer’s next target was Rita Jordan herself. Madison, Rika's manager, is identified as the culprit who attempted suicide. Madison explains that Rita stole the ikebana technique from her sister, secured funding for it, and claimed it as her own, leading to her sister's suicide. With the truth exposed, Rita is left devastated. Richard, now awake, spanks Conan for ruining the show.
