Ep. 16: Aru manipulates events to expose Kurou while Nishijima investigates Kamado Ueshita

Aru deduces that Marco and Ai retain Yuki and Yuno's diaries for strategic advantage, prompting him to have Minene feed Yuki false information. Yuki's father, Kurou, visits the hospital and secretly searches for his cell phone, which he promised to destroy to cancel a debt. Yuno overhears this arrangement and realizes Kurou is being manipulated by the Eleventh diary holder. Marco, aware of these details through Yuki's diary, demands that Yuno and Ai bring Kurou to an abandoned commercial tower. There, Marco attacks Kurou while Yuki struggles against him. Kurou breaks his phone on a table, but it proves to be a decoy. Yuno, recognizing the trick, attacks Ai and retrieves both diaries. Marco's apprentice then detonates explosives, causing the floor to collapse beneath Yuki. As Kurou and Yuno reach for him, Nishijima identifies the Eighth diary holder as Kamado Ueshita and proceeds to investigate her orphanage.
