Ep. 18: Shinobu recounts her ancient past in Japan and the tragic fate of her first servant.
Aired on November 3, 2013

Shinobu explains that 400 years ago, she accidentally ended a drought in Japan and was worshipped as a deity. She lived there until villagers vanished, leaving only her and a demon hunter friend. A creature Koyomi encountered attacked them, and Shinobu fled, accidentally taking the hunter's hand. She used it to resurrect him as a servant, similar to Koyomi. However, the man blamed her for their misfortunes. Unable to communicate with him, Shinobu watched him commit suicide by exposing himself to sunlight. She did not return to Japan until six months prior, when she first met Koyomi.
