Ep. 119: Kakashi Chronicles Part One: A Boy's Life on the Battlefield During the Third Great Ninja War
Seventeen years ago, thirteen-year-old Kakashi Hatake receives Jonin promotion gifts from Rin Nohara and Minato Namikaze, while Obito Uchiha brings none. Team Minato is assigned to destroy Kannabi Bridge to weaken the Hidden Stone Village. During the mission, they are ambushed by Mahiru, prompting Kakashi to attempt his new Chidori technique, which fails due to vertigo. Minato defeats Mahiru and criticizes Obito’s hesitation. Later, Obito learns from Minato that Kakashi’s cold demeanor stems from his father Sakumo Hatake’s ostracization for prioritizing comrades over missions. The next day, Kakko and Taiseki abduct Rin. Obito punches Kakashi for valuing the mission over his friend and leaves to rescue her, asserting that abandoning comrades is worse than breaking rules.
