Jiraiya enters the Village Hidden in the Rain to gather intelligence on its leader, Pain. After failing to obtain information through casual conversation with locals, he captures two low-ranking ninja inside a frog’s stomach. These captives reveal that Pain defeated the former leader, Hanzo, a feat even the three Sannin could not achieve. Meanwhile, Pain tasks Konan with finding the intruder. She transforms herself into origami butterflies to begin the search. This segment is part of the Tale of Jiraiya the Gallant arc.
