Hotaru’s uncle escorts her to her room, where bandits launch an ambush. Hotaru flees into the forest, but the pursuers catch up until Utakata intervenes to save her. The bandit leader reveals that Utakata is being hunted for 50 million ryo. The pair retreats to a secluded location, where Hotaru reveals a mark on her body. Mist Tracker Ninja then attack Utakata and take Hotaru hostage, claiming that Utakata murdered his former master. Naruto arrives shortly after with Yamato and Sai to assist in the confrontation.
