Iruka assumes the role of homeroom teacher for Naruto Uzumaki at the Academy. A fellow educator advises him to treat students kindly to prevent trouble, but Naruto continues his disruptive behavior. He feels hurt after Iruka instructs the class bullies to simply ignore him rather than confront him directly. Later in the episode, Naruto uncovers the fact that Sasuke Uchiha is the sole remaining member of the Uchiha clan. This narrative serves as the first part of the twenty-one part The Locus of Konoha arc.
