Nagato explains to Naruto how he and Konan assisted Yahiko in establishing the Akatsuki using lessons from Jiraiya to bring peace to the Hidden Rain Village. Hanzo viewed the group as a threat and conspired with Danzo to abduct Konan. He forced Nagato to choose between Yahiko’s life and Konan’s, ordering the former’s death. Yahiko sacrificed himself to save Konan, an event that horrified Nagato and led to his current physical and mental condition. This narrative serves as the twentieth installment of the Pain's Assault arc, which consists of twenty-two episodes.
