Sasuke and Danzo end their battle by stabbing each other, with Danzo realizing too late that Sasuke used genjutsu to feign having a spare Sharingan for Izanagi. Karin heals Sasuke, but a dying Danzo, losing control of Hashirama's cells, rips off his right arm and grabs her as a hostage to use Shisui's Sharingan. Sasuke ignores Karin's peril, shooting a Chidori through her to fatally wound Danzo. As Danzo attempts to flee, Tobi intercepts him to claim the eye. Remembering the Second Hokage's sacrifice, Danzo activates a sealing jutsu to trap two Sharingan users in his corpse. Before escaping the radius, Sasuke and Tobi watch Danzo die, lamenting that he never caught up to Hiruzen and failed to become Hokage.
