While Kakashi searches for Sai and others, Sakura is confronted by Sasuke, who declares his intent to destroy the Hidden Leaf Village. He demands she prove her loyalty by killing Karin. As Sakura prepares to strike, Karin hints that Sasuke plans to kill her next. Kakashi arrives, gaining a slight upper hand as Sasuke’s Mangekyou Sharingan causes him to go blind. Sakura rescues Karin to heal her, then attempts to ambush the blinded Sasuke with a poisoned kunai. However, her hesitation allows Sasuke to disarm her. She is saved from a fatal blow only when Naruto intercepts the attack, taking the stab meant for her.
