Before entering the Demon Desert, Shira promises Gaara that all Suna teams will pass. Team Guy devises a counter-strategy as Asuma and Kurenai question the ban on desert entry. Tsunade orders Guy to protect the Kazekage due to assassination threats. Inside the desert, Neji breaks a genjutsu and fights a Suna team, but Team Shira intervenes to help Team Goji escape. Sen traps Team Guy in another genjutsu, causing Neji’s plans to fail. Team Shira meets two Suna teams to steal scrolls, but they are betrayed and cornered. Team Guy rescues them. Sen reveals Shira is a recent shinobi. Lee notes their similarity, as both lack talent in ninjutsu and genjutsu.
