Yamaoka struggles to decide on a dessert for the Ultimate VS Supreme contest. Toujin invites him and Kaibara to a new teahouse where they eat monaka with muscat grapes within five minutes. Kaibara hints that the secret lies in the room, leading Yamaoka to identify persimmon. During the contest, Kaibara presents partially dried ripe persimmons as a bridge between fruit and sugar-based desserts. Yamaoka counters with tarugaki jelly inside the fruit and persimmon soaked in gin with sugar. The judges declare the result a tie. Yamaoka feels frustrated by the outcome, while Kaibara requests a rematch requiring greater imagination in the next round.
