Tetsu and Tatsu are unexpectedly dispatched to a harbor to retrieve a package for Hijikata. On the journey, Tetsu is pursued by Suzu, and the pair follows a brook toward their destination. Tetsu reunites with a worried Tatsu, after which Suzu departs. Following a lunch break, Tetsu follows a mysterious man into a forest where a group of thugs confronts him. Tatsu arrives discreetly. The man throws a hat at Tetsu, shoots a thug, and shatters their sword. After defeating the remaining attackers, the man reveals two ships at a naval base, noting he is one of two hundred soldiers in combat training.
