Ep. 8: Tetsu wins a dagger at the festival while Hana faces trouble with three men.
Susumu receives shoulder treatment from Ayumu while feeling ashamed of his role. Tetsu accidentally throws a bamboo sword hilt at Kondou, who forgives him and sends him to buy brown sugar candy. At the marketplace, Tetsu encounters Saya and Hana. The group visits a shrine, where Hana watches in amazement as Tetsu and Saya throw coins. Later, they attend a festival and pressure Tetsu into a ring toss game. He must choose between winning a piglet plushie for Saya or a red hairpin for Hana. Instead, Tetsu wins a dagger. Hana explains that her father, a ronin umbrella maker, stopped crafting swords after her mother died. When Hana retrieves ginger ale, she encounters three men. Sanosuke and Shinpachi rescue her while Tetsu and Saya watch. Hana develops a crush on Sanosuke, and Tetsu gives away his dagger.
