Ash and his friends arrive at the Safari Zone, unaware that the specific area they have entered is a protected preserve. An Officer Jenny disguised as Chansey nearly arrests them for poaching. They encounter a wild boy named Tomo who leads a herd of Kangaskhan. Eventually, they locate the boy's parents, who had been searching for him since he was only three years old. They learn that his real name is Tommy. Unfortunately, Tommy believes that the Kangaskhan are his family. After battling Team Rocket, Tommy's parents also become part of the Kangaskhan family.
