The group arrives at Laramie Ranch, where ranchers and their daughter Lara (フウコ, Fūko) prepare for an annual Pokémon race with her Ponyta. After Team Rocket interferes and injures Lara's arm, Ash takes over as the rider. Meanwhile, Team Rocket assists a rival competitor named Dario by setting traps for other participants. Despite these obstacles, the race proceeds, and Ponyta evolves into Rapidash during the event. This evolution enables the team to win the race against the rigged competition.
