Duck reflects on her identity as Princess Tutu while Myuuto feels a lonely call. Fakir argues Myuuto needs no heart, but Duck vows to return it despite denying love. Rue tells Myuuto his love for her is sufficient. Myuuto follows the call and meets the ghost Giselle, who offers a rosemary flower to take him to the dead. Rue attempts to save him through dance but fails. Duck transforms into Princess Tutu, dances with Giselle, and retrieves her sadness to give to Myuuto. Drosselmeyer observes that only unhappy feelings have returned and questions if this method will truly restore happiness to the Prince.
