After losing her family in an accident, Mitsuha Yamano is pushed off a cliff by bullies but lands safely in an alternate world. She survives by mimicking her otaku brother’s actions until Collette takes her in. When wolves attack during foraging, Mitsuha suddenly returns to Japan. Realizing she can traverse worlds due to a will that drained an interdimensional being’s power, she retrieves weapons and slays the wolves. The being grants her the ability to heal all injuries and departs, promising to return in a few millennia. Collette’s father compensates Mitsuha with gold for the carcasses. Mitsuha resolves to amass a fortune of 2 billion Yen, approximately 80,000 gold coins, to retire comfortably in both dimensions.
