Mitsuha arrives in the capital and rents a store to sell Japanese items. Initial customers are uninterested in the foreign merchandise but stay for a shampoo demonstration and lunch. They observe showers, gas cookers, and multiple dishes from one pot, leading them to suspect Mitsuha is a witch. She successfully sells shampoo, moisturizer, and jewelry, including complimentary chocolates. Maids from a mansion present the chocolate to chef Marcel, who is impressed and informs his employers, Viscount Reiner and his daughter Adelaide. Intrigued by the claim of fresh fish served despite being a ten-day journey from the ocean, they order Marcel to investigate. Mitsuha realizes she stocked fresh fish incorrectly but sells Marcel a professional chef knife. Marcel reveals Adelaide’s upcoming debutante ball must succeed and asks Mitsuha to provide fresh fish to impress guests. Recognizing significant profit potential, Mitsuha agrees to cater the entire event for an appropriate fee.
