Cheng loses the kidnapper while avoiding timeline alterations caused by interacting with Qiao Ling. Qiao Ling then speaks with the child's father and mentally ill mother, revealing she saw the child in the past. Using a photo taken by Dou Dou, the pair gather sufficient clues to identify the kidnapper and save the child. Following the reunion, the police chief questions Cheng about his appearance in CCTV footage and requests assistance with a serial murder case. Lu Guang examines the case photos, one of which depicts Emma's corpse. He conceals this photo from Cheng, replacing it with an image of the killer, and declines to take on the case.
