Terrified by a mysterious woman, Shiki attempts to flee after school but is cornered in an alley. The woman effortlessly defeats two demonic hounds and introduces herself as Arcueid Brunestud, a vampire hunting another vampire in the city. The hounds then attack their hotel, forcing Arcueid, who is weakened from regenerating after Shiki previously killed her, to confront the vampire Nrvnqsr Chaos. With Shiki’s assistance, the pair escapes the assault. Arcueid subsequently recruits Shiki to help her eliminate Nrvnqsr, marking a shift from fear to reluctant alliance in their shared conflict against the supernatural threat.
