Lars attempts to blackmail Zest and his master by threatening to report their treason to the demon lord for abducting Mio. Zest kills Lars and commands Maria to subdue Basara. Under Zolgear’s control, who holds her mother hostage, Maria transforms into her adult form to fight Basara. Yuki arrives at Zolgear's lair and joins Mio in battling Zest. Envious of Basara's bond with his servants, Zest is defeated, as is Maria, who breaks down when Basara embraces her and vows to save her. Zolgear paralyzes Mio and Yuki while strangling Zest for her failure. Basara uses Banishing Shift to free Mio, Yuki, and Zest from magic. As they rally against the demon, Zolgear immobilizes Basara with mental bondage to steal his powers.
