Squid Girl encounters lifeguard Goro Arashiyama but is irritated by his failure to meet her standards for a sea guardian. When he attempts to rescue a child from a riptide, she tries to stop him, only to have to save the child herself. Later, after observing a birthday celebration, she desires a similar event, prompting Eiko and Chizuru to organize a hatch party featuring sparklers and firecrackers. The episode concludes with Squid Girl meeting Eiko’s friend Sanae Nagatsuki, who develops an unsettling fascination with her and subsequently compels her to pose for cosplay photographs for a personal collection.
