At a beach hero performance, Squid Girl notices the villain is a squid and encourages the crowd to support it, forcing the cast to alter the script. Later, Eiko discovers Squid Girl can solve complex math problems. Squid Girl offers to tutor Eiko if she completes her chores, while she attempts to demonstrate her intellectual prowess to other patrons. Meanwhile, Goro rescues Nagisa from drowning. Squid Girl tries to frighten Nagisa, but her argument with Goro confuses Nagisa, who suspects he is being brainwashed. Eiko observes the interaction and begins to suspect that Nagisa has romantic feelings for Goro.
